Akwaaba to Data: My Memoir of the IASSIST Africa Conference in Ghana

The IASSIST Regional Conference held in Ghana from 22nd to 24th October 2025 was a journey I had long awaited, one that had been brewing in anticipation since May 2024, when my abstract was first approved. The months leading up to the conference were filled with preparation: research refinement, logistics planning, emotional readiness, and countless mental rehearsals. I had initially planned to travel by road, driven by my love for adventure and the idea of passing through three countries (Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana) before reaching my destination.

CFP: Behind the Scenes of Qualitative Data Analysis

One of the enduring challenges of qualitative research is translating research questions and data to specific steps for analysis. Few methods for qualitative research come with step-by-step instructions; researchers have to decide how to organize, structure, and interpret data in ways that allow them to answer their research questions and meet the expectations of their audiences, from dissertation advisors and instructors to peer reviewers. This challenge is exacerbated by the tendency of published reports of qualitative analysis to devote limited space to the process of analysis and interpretation.

We are grateful to the thoughtful reader or author who recently recommended IQ for inclusion in Scopus. We’ve received notice of this recommendation directly from Scopus. At this time, however, we have chosen to delay the review process. A successful application requires a comprehensive set of editorial and ethical policies, and we are still in the process of developing and strengthening these to meet Scopus’ standards.
